In 2014, the Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ) introduced the Voucher for Technical Assistance (VTA) to help small businesses develop their operations to improve their creditworthiness. This is in keeping with the DBJ’s mission to provide opportunities to all Jamaicans to improve their quality of life through development financing and capacity building.
Funding for this platform was provided through the World Bank Access to Finance Project (A2F), a US$20 million-dollar project, which is being executed by the DBJ, tasked with the creation, improvement, and support of products and services that would assist Jamaica’s Micro Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) by improving their access to funding.
The VTA is also supported by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) through the DBJ’s flagship programme – Boosting Innovation, Growth and Entrepreneurship Ecosystems (BIGEE).
The Voucher for Technical Assistance (VTA)
is issued electronically by the DBJ’s Approved Financial Institutions (AFIs) or Project Manager and may be redeemed at Business Development Organisations (BDOs) to receive business support services which will improve operations and the ability to access credit.
